In this role as a Mathematics, Science, and Technology (Ma/NO/Tk) teacher, you will teach grades 6–9. You will take full responsibility for the pedagogical content, planning, implementing, and evaluating your teaching in accordance with current curriculum documents. You will be part of a well-functioning teaching team. At our school, there is always room for subject-specific collaborative planning, both within the subject group and with a colleague.

You will assess students' knowledge levels and document their development over time. We place great emphasis on your having a formative approach to student learning. By building trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, you will contribute to a safe school environment where students are given excellent conditions to reach their full potential in their knowledge development.

Södertörn Independent School is a workplace beyond the ordinary! The school is run as a staff cooperative, which means there is a strong sense of "we" – it is our school together, and everyone is involved in how the operations function, both big and small. We have been around for 25 years, during which a strong structure, organization, and good routines have been established. We currently have 54 employees and 470 students (starting next academic year, we will also launch grades 4 and 5).

In upper secondary school, we work with four different profile orientations: Global, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Art and Design, and Music and Drama. For you as a Ma/NO/Tk teacher, there are fantastic opportunities to collaborate around our Mathematics and Natural Sciences profile, where students take an extra 120 minutes of mathematics and NO/Tk as part of the school's elective offerings.

The school is located in a beautiful park landscape with several different buildings, giving a cozy feeling of a small school. In immediate proximity lies the Flemingsberg Nature Reserve, which offers you, as a science teacher, unique opportunities to move the classroom into the forest for excursions and other scientific outings.

Your Competence

We are looking for you who:

• is a licensed teacher in mathematics and natural science subjects for grades 6–9.
• has deep subject knowledge and the ability to spark students' curiosity for mathematics and natural sciences.
• has clear leadership skills and uses a low-affective approach to create a safe and study-promoting environment in the classroom.
• finds it easy to meet students where they are and create relationships that benefit their knowledge development and personal maturity.
• enjoys being part of a cooperative. You value collegial collaboration, are happy to share your experiences, and actively contribute to the development of the subject team.
• thrive in a well-established organization but also have a desire to continue developing both your own teaching and the school's operations, both big and small.

Good to Know

Employment Type: Permanent position at 100% (starting with a 6-month probationary period).

Start Date: Ahead of the start of the autumn term 2026 (or by agreement).

Requirements: Prior to employment, we must ensure that a valid teaching license exists (please attach a current copy from the Swedish National Agency for Education to your application). The School Act also requires all employees to present a valid extract from the criminal register for work in schools.
